A tale that starts off with a mis­di­rec­tion, a bear def­i­nite­ly over­stays it’s wel­come, strange poems, and even stranger tales of a detec­tive who betrays an old woman. Mates, this whole episode is wacky and strange – not over the top, but just has bizarre sto­ries. I bring you tales from Cob­webs of an Emp­ty Skull by Dod Grile pub­lished in 1874.

I have to say this guy writes ahead of his time, and pokes fun at his audi­ence and the norms of the time. I total­ly stum­bled across him, and his wit, choice of words, and bla­tant dis­re­gard for what their audi­ence wants or expects in a sto­ry. So, let me know what you think, if you want more from this author, there is some­thing charm­ing about the writ­ing – also bare in mind it has ter­mi­nol­o­gy that may offend, so my apolo­gies but it’s noth­ing we can’t han­dle I think.
