About SCP-096, the “Shy Guy”

SCP-096 is one of the most famous entries in the SCP Foundation. It is a tall, pale, emaciated humanoid that spends most of its time quietly in its containment cell. It is harmless, until someone sees its face. Even a glimpse in a photograph or on video is enough.

Once its face has been seen, SCP-096 becomes distressed, and then it begins to travel towards the viewer. Distance makes no difference and nothing in its path can stop it. The Foundation’s containment procedures for SCP-096 are built around one rule: no one may ever look at it.

  • Object class: Euclid
  • Nickname: the Shy Guy
  • The rule: never see its face
