Wel­come lis­ten­ers to your Old Time Radio Mon­day. Where I bring you remas­tered episodes straight from any old time series. These series are pro­duced around the 1940’s and have old school actors with a range of sto­ries, depend­ing on the series. Late­ly I’ve been remas­ter­ing The Black Muse­um, which are old time radio episodes focused on house­hold items being used to maim, slash, or facil­i­tate mur­der.

The Black Muse­um is also pre­sent­ed by Orson Welles, a fan­tas­tic actor, writer, and direc­tor, with a very unique and charis­mat­ic voice. Now folks your two tales today were a doosie. The Car Tire is our first episode, wrought with pops, clicks, ran­dom silences, and fre­quent mic thud sounds. Dis­tract­ing and annoy­ing – I was able to deploy two new tricks today; cut­ting silences in the audio greater than 0.03 sec­onds, and using plo­sive-fil­ters to cut out the thud sounds. This made a HUGE dif­fer­ence.

If your won­der­ing what plo­sive fil­ter does, it cuts out the thuds, pops, and any inva­sion bits of audio that are sig­nif­i­cant­ly sharp in the audio – I was able to tweak that fil­ter to elim­i­nate them. A real­ly good chal­lenge today folks, and a great way to start my week. Your sec­ond sto­ry Cham­pagne was much eas­i­er, but had a heavy noise chal­lenge, which I’m used to, so noth­ing major there.
